The Papa drama allows them to go after a lot of the other fake stuff too. It lets the media shred the humanitarian stuff and reveal it for the joke it is. It also serves as a warning that they know what her past is and how unlikely MM is to be a dutiful loving daughter. And they get to remind us constantly that she is a user and discarder of people.
