I think the Brits have a very clear view of how they want their royals to behaveāthey are supposed so be well-groomed representatives who follow the rules and focus on charity and making the UK look good. He talks about how the critics feel that Meghan isn’tĀ āPeople Like USā but I think the criticism is mostly about Meghan not abiding by middle class rules about behavior, respect and thriftiness. If Meghan had, say, announced right after the wedding that she was picking Reprezent, Social Bite, and Stemettes as her charities (to pick her most high profile pre-wedding appearances), and had then scheduled a bunch of charity visits dressed in Marks and Spencer tops and Strathberry bags and shown up to Harryās non-celeb polo tournaments in Zara dresses,Ā we would be having a very different conversation right now.

I donāt know if you guys know of the long-running soap āEmmerdaleā. But the Markles are JUST like the Dingles on that show (including Meg herself, which I ID as Charity Dingle- prozzie, con artist and cold gold digger extraordinaire).
The BRF can bend over backwards, forwards and tie themselves into a pretzle – in the end, these American Dingles will find a way to blame eeeeverything on them when Meg bails in less than 2 years. They just canāt win this one. All they can do is to make sure there arenāt any āincriminatingā images out there to illustrate Megās coming narrative – so BIG SMILES EVERYBODY!

I donāt watch Emmerdale, but Iām going to look up the Dingles. I think your last paragraph really nails it, and, yes, they are probably going to go on a huge āhappy familiesā drive this summer, likely at Balmoral.Ā However, it will be for naught. I think the real onslaught will come in the Fall when Meghan unveils some crapĀ āfemale empowermentā umbrella program instead of the blockbuster innovative whatever that everyone is expecting.

I donāt want to blame anything on the Kardashians, but the pressure to emulate that lifestyle is infectious, and some of my clients donāt realize that other celebrities are getting a lot of stuff for free. There are celebrities who get paid to be courtside at basketball games, $25,000 or $50,000 just to sit there for two hours. And not only that, theyāll get an entire box of designer clothes shipped to their house so they can pick out what to wear, for free. Itās impossible to keep up with that, but itās natural to want to. My clients experience the same social pressures that we all feel, in normal life, except for them itās amplified and more public.
At a dinner party I attended recently, when one of the hostsāan artist friend, who can be a little loopyāannounced, as we cleared our plates of lamb tagine, that she was going to whip up some ice cream for dessert, I was skeptical. Making ice cream typically involves not only a machine but more than a day of preparation: you have to pre-chill the machineās cannister overnight in the freezer, prepare your baseāoften a custard that youāve cooked on the stovetop and let cool in the fridgeāand then allow the machine to churn and freeze it for twenty minutes or so before putting it in the freezer for several hours to let it fully solidify.
