Tell me about the. The “humanitarian” label has bothered me since the beginning because she did a week of charity work every year for three years. That was it. Sure, she got a big video for her speech and two glam photoshoots, but THAT WAS IT. About thirty days of work and she’s freaking Mother Theresa.
The only other charity activities they can point to are the school assignments and her sorority activities. I don’t understand how they can hype that as huge humanitarian achievements, and I definitely don’t understand how it’s supposed to have impressed the Queen and the BRF. That skimpy charity resume won’t even get you an MBE, let alone a freaking tiara and “People’s Princess” status.

She had been a remarkable woman. She would remain a remarkable woman even in a century which produced many of great note. There were few others who rose from such beginnings to a crown, and none contributed to a revolution as far-reaching as the English Reformation. To use a description no longer in fashion, Anne Boleyn was one of the makers of history.
In Denmark they tend to switch the names Christian and Frederik so that a King Christian calls his heir Frederik and he calls his son Christian and so on. For over 500 years they have alternated between King Christian and King Frederik. Margrethe acted as a “Christian” in that her father and son were Frederiks but Frederik has continued the tradition with his son and if Christian’s first child is a boy he’ll likely call him Frederik.
She had not thought of Jon in ages. He was only her half brother, but still… with Robb and Bran and Rickon dead, Jon Snow was the only brother that remained to her. I am a bastard too now, just like him. Oh, it would be so sweet, to see him once again.
this BBC documentary is on royal fashion it’s surely not definitive but is interesting. One of the points made here is that a royal should be concerned with what their clothes communicate but not concerned with what is fashionable. The most fashionable royals were the least popular. Fratelli Prada who is surely the last word on the matter of fashion has said that Queen Elizabeth is the “most elegant woman on the planet”. Yet Elizabeth eschews the “fashionable”. That strikes me as being quite insightful
The inspiration for the scene between the fish-tank came when Craig and I were so desperately looking for a solution as to how to surprise the audience for the first connective moment between Romeo and Juliet. I was younger then and we might have gone out to clubs a bit more. That night after working all day we squirreled out to a place (if I recall correctly called “The Dome”) in Miami. When I came out of the bathroom to wash my hands I looked up and saw a woman combing her hair with a brush through a fish-tank. It was a brilliant device to get guys and girls to connect through the sitting rooms, while protecting each room’s privacy. Obviously you can see where this moment lead …
Yeah! I’ve been banging on about this for years!! I think their annual report should give a better breakdown of what exactly the money is spent on and I think they should give an annual report with the exact cost of the monarchy to society. At the moment they say the monarchy only costs x per person based on the Sovereign Grant. They need to start summarising the cost as a whole which will include the Sovereign Grant, transport, local visits which are paid for by councils, and the costs to Commonwealth nations.
The Amazons are an elite female race of warriors that occupy the island of Themyscira. Created by Zeus, they were Mankind’s defense against the manipulations of Ares. However, following the War of the Gods, the Amazons seceded from the world, forever training for their battle against the God of War.
King Felipe VI accompanied former President of the United States, Barack Obama, on a private visit to the Reina Sofía Modern Art Museum in Madrid.
During their visit, they spent time admiring works by Picasso such as Guernica, and a selection of works by Salvador Dalí. Barack Obama is in Madrid to attend the Technological Innovation and Circular Economy Summit. (7th of July 2018)

When cheetah cubs are two months old they are irresistible to watch. Siblings are sparring partners around the clock. But the odds against their survival are not as appealing. More than half of all cheetah cubs do not survive their first four weeks of life and most of the rest do not make it beyond their first year. Cheetahs can’t climb trees like leopards, they can’t dig burrows like hyenas, and they’re not social like lions, so they are always vulnerable no matter where they are.
“Imagine if people had been going ‘don’t fight hate with hate’ back when Hitler was around.”
Fam…let me tell you bout Poland.
Let me tell you about how the entire rest of Europe sat ack and watched the invasion of Poland because they thought it would be “improper” to send military aid. How they were unwilling to enforce the treaties that Germany was breaking, because that would make them “just as bad.” They sat back and wrote strongly worded letters while fascists grew in power because they didn’t want to dirty their hands. They thought reasonable discussion and politics would be enough to stop a fascist dictator from rising to power.
Spoiler alert: it wasn’t enough.
like yes, people literally did try that argument then too.
Everywhere there’s fascists there are fascist apologists hiding under the guise of pacifism, ready to enable their shit and demonize resistance.
Margot Robbie worked hard to get Cathy Yan as director for Birds of Prey, which marked the first time a non-white, female filmmaker had been hired to direct a DC movie.
Now the Harley Quinn actress has confirmed to Yahoo Movies, during an interview about her new movie Terminal, that she will be putting just as much effort into ensuring her co-leads are just as diverse.
“Yep, yes exactly, real life isn’t so one specific image,” Robbie said. “We’ve got to reflect that onscreen.”
YES! And it would be one thing if she were actually good at the job, but she isn’t. Yet, here she is patting HM and Harry on the back as if she could judge their job performance.
I don’t think she sold “access.” Harry doesn’t have that kind of pull. I used to track how much money she was making, but I stopped when it reached six figures in April 2017.
And I do think that’s partly why the Markles feel entitled to sell pics and interviews. Meghan did the same while she was dating Harry, so they feel the BRF doesn’t have a right to get snotty about it. She gave US Weekly a “Harry hates Trump” story full of sources detailing H’s political thoughts, so they don’t see why everyone is so upset that they are doing the same.
