Legal restraints. Doria’s past can’t be published under British law and the yachting/nudes/sex tape have to be thoroughly validated before publishing. As the current KP stance seems to be that it’s all Russian photoshops (or something like that), they can’t be published.

I have no clue what they were thinking. I expected her to pick some charities and start doing black-slacks-and-messy-buns visits after the wedding. Instead, she scheduled a ton of royal events and maxed out Charles’ credit card on couture that wasn’t even freaking British. Her appearances were all celeb or aristo events. Her leaked stories were about all the houses the Queen was giving them. She skipped out on all of Harry’s charity and fundraising events (event the Sentebale Africa trip!). The only one she showed up for was the Sentebale polo fundraiser and that was just to have a kiss pic that would overshadow Tom’s interview.
I don’t understand their post-wedding strategy at all.
That seems to be the speculation I’m seeing. I would hope that W&K would be smart enough to start distancing themselves from this shit show. There is no reason for them to continue to bail out Harry. It’s a waste of their time and pr capital.
Well, I think August is going to be a shit show for a lot of people, not just Megsy. (I am including Trump and more of his shit continuing, but that’s not really a shocker.) It’s just not a favorable month for things.
We’ve already seen her father, Tom Sr., take it to her via Fleet Street this summer, with increasing sharp words. He does not appear to be backing down. Nor does the palace seem well equipped to turn down the volume on this mess. So, I expect some more fuel for these flames to come out in August.
But if I had to go for a specific time frame in August, then I’d probably go for between August 10 and 23, particularly August 10 through 18.
What that will be exactly…I don’t know if anyone will know for sure until it happens.

Not sure I believe that. If the press in the UK–particularly including Piers Morgan–had aired what was assumed to have been a private phone call with a member of the BRF, then there would have been a firestorm against the UK press. People in the UK remember the phone hacking scandal. Piers would have lost his job for that. Easily.

Oh, I DO NOT think her family is in on it. Megs would much, much, MUCH rather people be seeing her articles about her fashion and how she’s adjusting to royal life. This Daily Mail story is purely an attempt to put out the fires that her father is causing.
At the very end of the story, the DM repeats what Papa Markle said much earlier: “I was silent for a full year.” That’s a man saying he knows how to be quiet. I suspect that given Megs has hit back in the UK tabs with the heart stuff is fake that Papa Markle is going to hit back with he was never invited to the wedding to begin with. It’s what many people suspected early on.
And then we’ll be treated for another tit-for-tat between the Markles and Megs. It’s just going to go on and on and on. Meanwhile, Harry will eventually not get any press and start getting even more pissy about it. Such a lovely way to start a marriage…
It’s true though! It’s a full blown soap opera now, and it’s not going to stop tomorrow. I have no doubt this is going to go on until the beginning of September, at least.
I honestly think that they have to do something but whatever they do will probably get a backlash. They could issue a statement but that could stoke the fires more. They could try to sit down with the Markle family and ask them what it would take for them to sign an NDA but if they don’t then the family would definitely sell it as a story that they tried to get them to sign an NDA. If they go a legal route then it again could create more attention or could backfire if they don’t win in some way. So yeah. I don’t know what I’d advise at this point but I don’t think they can let it continue as it is right now.
Might as well. He’s got to know by now that she’s never going to get protocol right. Things like that are exactly why she had her pr peeps leak details about the “dumb” protocol things she has to do now.
Personally–the way this is going–I wouldn’t be surprised if next week or the week after if Thomas Markle hopped a plane to the London and did an in-the-studio LIVE interview with Piers Morgan.

If it was a different color, it would look so much better. Pale beige does nothing for her and just washes her out. Ironically, this one fits, but the material is so bulky on her petite body that it again looks like it doesn’t fit or that something is off.
The matching handbag and shoes don’t do any favors either since the color matches. She didn’t use anything to accent such a blah dress.
Harry looks better because he doesn’t wash out with different colors of his ensemble.

And they ghosted him AFTER there were a ton of leaks from the palace about how they didn’t blame him for the pictures and they were so concerned about his health and the were going to go see him in Mexico. I bet he thought everything was okay and he had been forgiven and then he realized they weren’t taking his call anymore. That’s when he decided to apologize through the press.
I doubt it’s a coordinated strategy, however. I feel like it’s more that her family knows her and they’ve been in this situations twice before. They know what she’s going to do.

It would actually be a big chance for her. She could have a public reconciliation, introduce him to the Queen, and then leak that she’s now talking to him but being very careful about what she says because she knows he’s talking to the press. That would neutralize him.
But it sounds like she’s going to try ignoring him, which will just make him rant and rave. That’s going to look pretty funny when she decides she wants to do charity again and starts going on Heads Together events telling people that “we must all help” the mentally ill and families in crisis and there should be tons of support and no stigma.
They are going to get blamed anyway, by Tom Markle of all people. It’s hilarious because Richard Kay had insiders saying that the staff was desperately trying to get Meghan to make up with her family and she just refused to do so. Now they are getting blamed for it all.
I think the main difference is that a Hollywood celebrity can live in the publicist bubble forever, but royals have to interact with the real world. Meghan sold everyone this Hollywood humanitarian image and now that’s crumbling down.
Well, that’s what I don’t get about this sudden “toxic parenting” talk. Tom was supposedly a saint (amply documented in Meghan’s speeches, essays and social media) until early May 2018.
Yep, it’s interesting how they use the language of abuse, but her dad was apparently fantastic to her until the tabs started circling and he got no media guidance from KP.
So, basically now that Mio has stupidly set up a rationale that Megs needs to separate herself from her father, we can probably expect that Tom Sr. is going to come back with everything that he did for his daughter growing up and beyond. Attempted ghosting isn’t going to work this time. Shall we take bets on whether or not Tom Sr. is going to appear on Good Morning Britain? Whether or not Meg’s previous Instagram posts will appear?

They seem to have tabled that until the fall, which is a really bad decision, imo. Its hard to argue that she wanted to devote her life to charity when she basically spent her first year as a royal attending celeb events and spending money like crazy.
Sykes is going on and on about how the criticism is racist and classist, but I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. I think the Brits have a very clear view of how they want their royals to behave–they are supposed so be well-groomed representatives who follow the rules and focus on charity and making the UK look good. He talks about how the critics feel that Meghan isn’t “People Like US” but I think the criticism is mostly about Meghan not abiding by middle class rules about behavior, respect and thriftiness. If Meghan had, say, announced right after the wedding that she was picking Reprezent, Social Bite, and Stemettes as her charities (to pick her most high profile pre-wedding appearances), and had then scheduled a bunch of charity visits dressed in Marks and Spencer tops and Strathberry bags and shown up to Harry’s non-celeb polo tournaments in Zara dresses, we would be having a very different conversation right now.

I don’t know if you guys know of the long-running soap “Emmerdale”. But the Markles are JUST like the Dingles on that show (including Meg herself, which I ID as Charity Dingle- prozzie, con artist and cold gold digger extraordinaire).
The BRF can bend over backwards, forwards and tie themselves into a pretzle – in the end, these American Dingles will find a way to blame eeeeverything on them when Meg bails in less than 2 years. They just can’t win this one. All they can do is to make sure there aren’t any ‘incriminating’ images out there to illustrate Meg’s coming narrative – so BIG SMILES EVERYBODY!

This is supposed to make his interviews worthless to the press because he has no contact with the royals and hence no news to share regarding any Meghan “trouble.” However, he has completely twisted it around so that the ghosting itself is evidence of Meghan’s troubles.
I think they underestimated the Markles. These guys have been in Hollywood for a while. They know the tricks.
I don’t watch Emmerdale, but I’m going to look up the Dingles. It really is interesting how the BRF will always get blamed, no matter how much money or events they throw at this girl or many protocols they allow her to “break.” The old guard is clenching its jaw as she prances around in shoulder-baring outfits, turning her back on the Queen, Charles is wincing as he signs checks for French couture and worthless foreign tours, the entire family is grimacing as they pose for happy pics…and yet they are all going to get blamed when this turns to shit.
I think your last paragraph really nails it, and, yes, they are probably going to go on a huge “happy families” drive this summer, likely at Balmoral. However, it will be for naught. I think the real onslaught will come in the Fall when Meghan unveils some crap “female empowerment” umbrella program instead of the blockbuster innovative whatever that everyone is expecting.
