I thought she flew in a hairdresser with her? What happened to the person?
That’s my thoughts exactly.
Where is this dude? Who’s hair is he really doing? Are they trolling her AGAIN? How much is he getting paid? Did he get white girl wasted with Henry and rushed this job?
I know! I went “wait, she changed from a navy dress into an IDENTICAL navy dress????” But it turned out it was black. The macaroni necklace was the best part of that outfit, imo.
This looks very sloppy to me. The clothes are sloppy. The coverage is all fluff. I thought maybe she was dressing sloppily because this was her “I focus on the substance of the tour” trip (those binders!), but that doesn’t seem to be the case. The substantive stops are not highlighted at all (and, as in the case of the aboriginal school, are sometimes shoved out of the way), which is a shame. Part of it is that they have so many events they all kind of blend into anonymous handshaking and cute kid pics, but part of it is that the charity stuff is treated as just background to Harry and Meg’s love story.
She met an after-school rugby program for girls and she doesn’t play rugby. The program is ironically named “Girls Can” and Meghan showed everyone that some girls actually can’t.
They were supposedly going to clean up a beach (which would have been great for awareness), but then they didn’t get to clean up. This reminds me of the drought-awareness stop in Dubbo which turned into a deluge. Both events became”Meghan and Harry hold hands as they meet with cute kids and eat,” which seems to be the theme of the tour.
The social cafe visit (they help indigenous kids) turned into a Tig-friendly food tasting with the chef. I don’t think we met any of the indigenous kids.
The aboriginal school was embargoed and thus overshadowed by her banana cake. Kudos to Emily Andrews for actually getting interviews from the kids.Yes, it was a rote”she’s a role model” quote, but at least the kids got some visibility.
“You’re really speaking my language” is the new “it’s amazing.” She’s saying that to everyone. I really admire how she manages to turn other’s people work into a statement about herself. This takes real talent.
It’s just a supremely boring tour. The clothes are bland neutral crap that doesn’t fit. The settings are meh. The stunts are all stuff they’ve done before with another message piece of clothing like the Husband shirt at Invictus, another girl who looks like Meghan like the actress wannabe at Stemettes, and another baby related medical event just like the one they did in Ireland. Daphne Dunne stands in for Nottingham’s Haribo lady and so on.
Goat peach dress (second most iconic look based on how much it’s been lampooned)
Carolina Herrera peach dress she wore to Trooping (I think this is her most “iconic look” based on that Modern Family sketch)
Best looks:
Blue Roland Mouret worn at BP
Black Halo dress worn at Commonwealth Meeting reception
Banana yellow dress worn at Commonwealth Youth reception
Black Emilia Wickstead she wore in Ireland
Gray Roland Mouret (sadly spoiled by visible bra) she wore in Ireland
I think a lot of people would add the black/navy Dior she wore to the RAF anniversary to this list, but I think that looked way to dark and fake. Ditto the cream Givenchy she wore to Chester. I think the dress looked good, but couture was the wrong choice for the engagement and the hair just killed the look.
I’m very amused by the coverage though. The bar is set so low at this point that they praise her for closing the car door. Even I am sitting here typing “well, at least the dress was ironed and the hair was kind of combed.”
She looked nice, as did the lady with the headscarf and the AMAZING salt-and-pepper tweed coat. And the lady with the black coat and the pearls and belt! OMG, I have coat envy now.
Everyone at that event was better dressed than Meghan.
I know! We haven’t seen mudslinging like this since the War of the Wales. People are comparing the brf to Scientology!
I see the Meg fans are working themselves into a froth over Kate’s (admittedly modest) patronage track record. They seem to think this is still a competition. That’s adorable.
Yes, there was a chance Meghan would be able to bury the nude pics, sex scenes, ditched boyfriends, etc… under a stellar charity record, but, thanks to her family and her own crap decisions this summer, that is no longer the case. For some bizarre reason she decided to counter her family’s attack with tons of couture fashion ops with the royal family instead of focusing on her charity work. Now she’s going on another huge fashion show down under.
Even if she went on a huge charity spree, she still wouldn’t be able to make up for the huge family drama, million-dollar wardrobe, and lack of UK brands. And, let’s face it, there is no huge charity spree coming up. She could have (and SHOULD HAVE) done that this month, but decided to hype up her tour fashion instead. The only events where she has looked happy have been the ones with royals or celebs. Her trademark look during charity visits is “wtf am I doing here.”
Meghan isn’t interested in the charity part. She built enough of a resume to bamboozle people into giving her this position and now she’s done with it. She’s interested in fashion and celebs and that will be her focus from now on. Yes, she’ll do enough work to meet the minimum requirements, but that’s it. This is what she has done in every single job she has had. That’s why the blog was so freaking half-assed.
She’ll probably step up the charity stuff in a year or so, when she starts getting antsy and looking for an exit.
I only remember the Madonna-flag picture from an MTV “Rock the Vote” campaign.
I think if she did anything with the Union Jack, she’d look like a Spice Girl.
Megs just doesn’t excel at looking royal. I think she’s always going to look trashy because she just doesn’t have good taste. And all she really wants is $$$.
People, aka Markle stans, are dumb. No one forced her to wear that dress. She easily could have worn a dress that fit and didn’t give the impression that she had gained weight instantaneously. But noooo….
Her fashion sense sucks and that’s all there is to it. Her fans/stans just won’t allow themselves to blame her for her own mistakes. No surprise there.
True, but she only looks good in a couple of silhouettes (pencil skirts, fitted dresses, cigarette pants, and fifties-style dresses). You can get a work wardrobe out of those pieces, IF you vary them with colors and patterns and add some statement jewelry. If you’re going to stick to monochromes and minimalist bling, it’s going to get real old, real fast.
And it already has. We’ve had about a dozen all-black looks, four or five tux/black suits, navy everything, countless black clutches, etc… If she wants the “hard-worker” labels, she’s going to have to put together about 200 looks a year. That’s 50 black tuxes, at least.
Nope. Can’t say I’m surprised though. If someone offers her something really expensive to wear, she’ll clearly wear it even if it doesn’t fit well and isn’t suitable for the occasion.
It’s the kind of suit (minus the satin top) that you would wear when you want to come across as powerful and authoritative. I don’t think it was the right outfit for this event at all.
She’s making really strange outfit choices. The Hamilton dress was more “date night” than gala and this was more TED Talk than anything else.
This is the 2nd article I have seen in US media that makes excuses for why MM is not selling. The first article claimed her legs were so skinny cause she was under stress due to PC yelling at her for all the money spent on clothes and she could not eat. Which is nonsense she has always had very thin legs. The other article also talked about her balding again due to stress.
This article is again blaming her skinny legs, ill fitting clothes on weight loss due to stress. And her too large shoes are to prevent blisters – uh too large shoes cause blisters. And everyone wears their shoes too big. I didn’t get that memo. But eh this is Meghan Markle world where the most absurd claims are to be believed.
She obviously is not doing well in getting new sponsors and this article makes that clear. I don’t find it surprising her post Harry plan for fortune as a mercher luxury brand endorser is failing. She looks dreadful most of the time. She has been looking for sponsors before Polo she has ads all over and right after Polo she had a “Meghan’s Fav looks” in People so she is not getting either the freebies or the paid contracts. She really overestimated her attraction as a celeb endorser.
Thanks for sending this in! The problem is that her style is not that good. She looks good in simple dresses, pencil skirts, and skinny pants, and that’s pretty much it. You can build an excellent professional wardrobe out of that, but you’re not going to end up in any “style icon” or “fashion muse” lists.
The weird part is that she could have a lovely royal style out of the pieces she looks good in, but that’s not enough for her. She has to be edgy and/or couture and she simply looks awful in those looks.
If it was a different color, it would look so much better. Pale beige does nothing for her and just washes her out. Ironically, this one fits, but the material is so bulky on her petite body that it again looks like it doesn’t fit or that something is off.
The matching handbag and shoes don’t do any favors either since the color matches. She didn’t use anything to accent such a blah dress.
Harry looks better because he doesn’t wash out with different colors of his ensemble.
“Meghan’s Oscar de la Renta dress is one of the worst things she’s ever worn. It’s just so ugly it shouldn’t be worn at all. She needs a tailor ASAP. The dress is so freaking large on her and looks like she is wearing a big sack. I hope this dress will never see the light of the day again.“ – Submitted by Anonymous
