And the issues addressed were so important and interesting–refugees, environment, culture, health, diplomacy. Everything was meaningful and there was absolutely no fluff.
She was all smiles from the moment they landed. She loves the spotlight.
I bet she’s already planning on bellycupping during the Remembrance event in London in a few weeks. Wearing her trademark black dress but now with bellycup hands.
I don’t doubt she’s pregnant. I just don’t think she’s showing much, so she has to push the belly out and wear loose clothing to maximize the bumplet.
It’s kind of hilarious when you think of it. She started advertising “the invisible bump” as soon as she could. I wonder how long it took for her to find that ruffle dress.
OMG, remember Jason Wu’s awkward face when he was asked about the pregnancy rumors? I bet the designers knew before the BRF knew.
All together Kate spent $36,782 (USD), 31,899 (EURO), 51,660 (AUS) for the 2014 Australian tour. Let’s take a look a the spare family.
Seeing that Meghan wore a new pair of nude stilettos yesterday in Australia, I had to sit down and count how many (and how expensive) pairs of nude and black stilettos she’s bought since engagement announcement because it totally looks like she buys a new pair for every outing. I thought I’d share it with you, guys, because when I tallied up the total, my jaw landed on the floor and it still lays there.
Starting with nude because she seems to wear only nude pumps now (black in spring/summer, nude in fall/winter, definitely not merching next season clothing)
$395 – Nude Tamara Mellon worn once in Australia
$375 – Nude Stuart Weitzman worn twice – in Sussex and Australia
$750 – Nude Aquazzura worn once, at Sentebale polo match
$655 – Nude Dior worn once, at Mandela museum
The same pair of nude Dior stilettos but in suede and bespoke, previous one was leather, worn once at RAF service.
Nude Paul Andrew, not available yet, worn once, in Ireland
$625 – Nude Manolo Blahnik worn twice – at Stephen Lawrence memorial and Commonwealth Youth reception
$450 – Nude Tamara Mellon worn once, at BP garden party
$695 – Nude Aquazzura worn once, at engagement announcement
It’s circa $4,7k with estimated prices of bespoke Dior and two pairs of Paul Andrew stilettos (they retail for around $600-$700). I was being generous and I didn’t count in the Stuart Weitzman pairs because she supposedly owned them before and worn them at IG 2017 opening and closing ceremonies. I’ve also counted down the Aquazzura engagement pair because she owned them for quite a while before the announcement.
Now black:
$395 – Black Sarah Flint worn thrice – at Anzac dawn service, cookbook launch and on arrival to Australia
$750 – Black Aquazzura worn twice – at WellChild and CoachCore
$590 – Black Aquazzura worn four times (a record!) – in Ireland, at solo engagement, at engagement with Queen and Harry and at van Straubenzee wedding.
Black Paul Andrew, not available yet, worn once, in Ireland
Black Paul Andrew – same as previous ones but different fabric – worn once, at Hamilton
$355 – Black Sarah flint worn once, at engagement with Queen
$650 – Black Givenchy worn once, at Ascot
$625 – Black Manolo Blahnik worn four times (it’s a tie!) – at Endeavour Awards, Invictus engagement with Prime Minister of Australia, Anzac Day service at WA and to the STEM event in Birmingham
$750 – Black Aquazzura, worn once, at Commonwealth reception
$475 – Black Tamara Mellon, worn once, at Commonwealth reception
$750 – Black Aquazzura, worn once, at Royal Foundation Forum
It’s $6,5k for black stilettos, once again with estimated costs of Paul Andrew stilettos.
So, Meghan has spend (or was given) $11k for 20 pairs of only nude and black 4inch stilettos in the last 11 months. I don’t even want to think what one can buy for this amount of money but it is ridiculous. The highest number of recycles is 4! Kate has worn those horrible L.K. Bennett Sledge for 3 or 4 years. I would really like to know what she’s doing with those shoes, are the dogs playing with them? Remember when we thought she’ll leave NC with bags full of Cartier? She’d rather prefer her stilettos
Thanks for sending this in!
She’s wearing another sleeveless navy dress. At least it’s an Australian designer, but, holy guacamole, she must be buying a new sleeveless navy dress every month.
Princess Eugenie’s simple and elegant wedding dress was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos of British-based label Peter Pilotto.
The dress was developed layer-by-layer during several fittings. The designers began with the corset and complex underskirt before moving on to the fitted bodice and full pleated skirt. It features a neckline that folds around the shoulders to a low back that drapes into a flowing full-length train.
The low back of the dress was included in the design at the request of Princess Eugenie, who had surgery, aged 12, to correct scoliosis. The condition causes the spine to bend to one side, and can make the back appear rounded and the shoulder blades more prominent. Before the wedding, the princess said “I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it’s really special to stand up for that.”
The fabric was designed by Mr Pilotto and Mr De Vos at their studio and includes a number of symbols that are meaningful to Princess Eugenie as motifs. A thistle representing Scotland acknowledges the couple’s fondness for Balmoral, and a shamrock representing Ireland is a nod to the bride’s Ferguson family. The other symbols used including the York Rose – a nod to the princess’s family name of York – and ivy, which represents the couple’s home, Ivy Cottage, in Kensington Palace.
Princess Eugenie wore the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, lent to her by the Queen. The tiara was made by the jeweller Boucheron for British society hostess Dame Margaret Greville in 1919. It was created in the fashionable “kokoshnik” style popularised in the Russian Imperial Court.
On her death in 1942, the tiara was bequeathed to the Royal Family.
The wedding bouquet consists of lily of the valley, stephanotis pips, hints of baby blue thistles, white spray roses, trailing ivy and myrtle. Myrtle has traditionally been used in Royal bouquets since Queen Victoria.
Yeah, I really loved the top and fit of Eugenie’s dress. I was hoping for Vivienne Westwood, but this worked well too.
Yup! It’s a 16-day tour that starts in a couple of days. I haven’t seen most of the coverage from Eugenie’s wedding just the videos posted on the Royal Family channel, so I haven’t seen any of those moments from Harry & Megs. Doesn’t surprise me though.
Goat peach dress (second most iconic look based on how much it’s been lampooned)
Carolina Herrera peach dress she wore to Trooping (I think this is her most “iconic look” based on that Modern Family sketch)
Best looks:
Blue Roland Mouret worn at BP
Black Halo dress worn at Commonwealth Meeting reception
Banana yellow dress worn at Commonwealth Youth reception
Black Emilia Wickstead she wore in Ireland
Gray Roland Mouret (sadly spoiled by visible bra) she wore in Ireland
I think a lot of people would add the black/navy Dior she wore to the RAF anniversary to this list, but I think that looked way to dark and fake. Ditto the cream Givenchy she wore to Chester. I think the dress looked good, but couture was the wrong choice for the engagement and the hair just killed the look.
I don’t think Megs has worn much Chanel, has she? Seems like that’s one fashion house steering clear of her. I am curious to see what fug thing she will wear to Eugenie’s wedding since Eugenie probably has friends that can dress really well.
I really like the headpiece itself. I think with the dress and the bag it’s a bit matchy matchy. Even for Kate, who loves matchy matchy. It’s just very blue. But I like the piece and I’m all for this new experimentation she’s doing with her headpieces. I would love that to continue. Anyway, she has indeed worn that outfit before, without the hat thing. She wore it when they arrived in Berlin:
I have a feeling the American brands will be huge during the Australian tour-Carolina Herrera, Ralph, etc.. Jess was in NYFW doing the rounds. Meghan will likely wear whoever was making a big push during that week. Unfortunately, I don’t follow fashion that much and don’t know who that was.
My favourite dress of all […] was my first Dior dress, white strapless tulle and a vast satin bow at the back ~ Princess Margaret.
Christian Dior was absolutely fascinated by Princess Margaret. [This is] Princess Margaret’s actual dress. The waist is 21.5 inches, it’s absolutely tiny and she looked super glamorous. I think that’s the sort of look you hadn’t associated for a while with the British Royal Family. – Beatrice Behlen, Fashion curator and historian at the Museum of London. Most notably, the Princess wore this dress in a set of photographs taken by Cecil Beaton for her 21st birthday in 1951.
She looked nice, as did the lady with the headscarf and the AMAZING salt-and-pepper tweed coat. And the lady with the black coat and the pearls and belt! OMG, I have coat envy now.
Everyone at that event was better dressed than Meghan.
I only remember the Madonna-flag picture from an MTV “Rock the Vote” campaign.
I think if she did anything with the Union Jack, she’d look like a Spice Girl.
Megs just doesn’t excel at looking royal. I think she’s always going to look trashy because she just doesn’t have good taste. And all she really wants is $$$.
But it’s interesting that we all assumed that Givenchy was leaking Meghan’s (or Eug’s or Cam’s) dress fitting for promo purposes and it didn’t even seem odd or anything. That’s how far the brf has sunk. Something like that would have been unimaginable two years ago.
People, aka Markle stans, are dumb. No one forced her to wear that dress. She easily could have worn a dress that fit and didn’t give the impression that she had gained weight instantaneously. But noooo….
Her fashion sense sucks and that’s all there is to it. Her fans/stans just won’t allow themselves to blame her for her own mistakes. No surprise there.
