The kind of fantasy Meghan is spinning is fine in Hollywood, but once you are in the political sphere or in the royal family, it becomes propaganda. It’s as real as Trump’s supposed riches and blue collar sympathies and just as seductive. Rhiannon is correct to be wary of it.
But the UK press is in a bind because they’ve been letting the royal propaganda skate so far. Now, sure, they did it because the royals were relatively discreet about it. They visit the Grenfell victims and do fundraisers, but their pictures aren’t in the front and the interactions are a ritualized posy offering and maybe a quick hug.
What Gert’s did is standard operating procedure for royal engagements. They always mention that other royals also visited and supported. Heck, sometimes they go back to the Diana years or even young HM’s visits to show a constant stream of support. When Meghan and Harry went to the Mandela exhibit, they mentioned Charles’ visit with Mandela.
That’s the point of the royal family. It’s a team, or at least it used to be. I guess now that Meghan’s here it’s different.
People, aka Markle stans, are dumb. No one forced her to wear that dress. She easily could have worn a dress that fit and didn’t give the impression that she had gained weight instantaneously. But noooo….
Her fashion sense sucks and that’s all there is to it. Her fans/stans just won’t allow themselves to blame her for her own mistakes. No surprise there.
As long as they don’t share any sensitive details it should be fine. Also, she could leak it first and tell Emily Andrews or Imo that she tried to explain why he couldn’t speak to the press and was careful not to share any private details and she did it with and aide, or whatever.
There are tons of ways to handle this. It’s just that she doesn’t want to talk to him.
And her fans are all fully supportive saying that “no child should be forced to maintain contact” or whatever, but this is the brf. That’s what they don’t seem to understand. You can’t have a rogue family member out there making mischief and overshadowing your every engagement.
And that’s what’s going to happen. Very time she steps out and talks about supporting young girls and women, Sam is going to pipe up and say that the fancy words obviously don’t apply to her own family. Every time she represents the brf at a diplomatic event her brother will bring up her State Department uncle who got her the embassy job and got ghosted too. It’s just going to go on and on.

I’m also surprised that he had the guts to blame Harry and the KP statement for this treatment. I think he’s absolutely right, but I’m surprised to see a royal reporter calling it out so blatantly. It’s so ironic that Harry and Meghan, who complained so loudly about social media trolls and who, for the love of mercy, legit have a huge anti-bullying campaign in their name, ended up creating their own vicious troll army.

I’m also surprised to see him compare the Markles to all the other royal-ish personalities who have made money on the connection. I don’t think he mentions Pippa and James, but they should be on that list too. True, they were more classy about it and their cashing-in attempts were mostly ineffective, but they still tried. They were all criticized for it, just as the Markles are being criticized.
I was wondering why Meghan and Harry’s engagements were so effing boring compared to all the other royal engagements. He explains that the royal reporters are not allowed to listen in. That’s why we don’t get cute quotes, interactions, or any substantive information and it all looks like a useless fashion show. Harry and Megs are really shooting themselves in the foot with this one.
That last one is huge, imo. Palmer seems to think that they may get something more substantive, particularly on the charity front, in the fall, but I very much doubt that. They will get another nothing-burger forum with some crap “Girls Together” umbrella being unveiled.

2_SUGARS. They’re not having fun. They are probably pumping each other up in private while expressing anxiety in pms. They are a fandom – we all know how those work. They wanted to see Harry Meghan do the Cambridge stuff, make appearances, interact, be playful together, laugh together. The Cambridges didn’t cling but were clearly a unit.
3_The Sugars are not having fun because the pda with Harry and Meghan is “off” and they know it. There is no eye contact, no he says something and she laughs, she says something back and he laughs, people around them enjoying it. It’s weird. Sugars are looking for their romantic “fix” and it’s not there. Every time they have an appearance Sugars hope they’ll get more but it’s always the same.

Honestly this is the problem I have with her moms new narrative. Didn’t she go live with her father when she was younger? Then he still paid for education after she decided she was a star. I will give her fans credit for sticking to the narrative their saint gives them but it’s also really sad that none of them do research and read or listen to her old interviews. If they think this is what her life was like I can’t imagine what harry thinks. The white dad has to be the enemy because her narrative is that she’s black and the white man is only trying to keep her down, guess harry isn’t white. I’ve heard stories that Doria wasn’t as hands on when she was growing up which may be why her father was so present in her life.

There’s also the other side with people who thought the Middletons were making money off the monarchy, controlling William, and leaking and posing for paps now defending Meghan left and right when she’s doing all of that X100.
I understand the Harry fans flipping. I think Harry’s 2015 press emphasized tradition and loyalty and the military and family and a lot of people became his fans because of that. It made him look like the more “royal” brother. Wiliam’s press, on the other hand, emphasized Kate, his family, his air ambulance work, and the Middletons, and it made him look comparatively less “royal.” The US tour and the friendships with tennis players and celebrity sailors also made the Cambridges feel more Hollywood, as did Kate’s emphasis on fashion and hair. As a result, the fans who were more into the traditional aspects of the BRF gravitated towards Harry and shunned the Cambridges.
But that has all flipped now. Thanks to Meghan, Harry is now the less “royal” brother and the Cambridges, who have barely changed any behaviors, are now super-traditional royals in comparison.
So I kind of understand why the Harry fans flipped. Harry no longer represents their values. I do not, however, understand why the Kate haters are now Meghan sugars. Everything they supposedly hated about Kate–untidyness, love for the press, messy family, flyaway hair, fake hair, materialism, merching, celebrity friends–is even worse with Meghan.
Oh, we are totally not exaggerating. They will pounce on anything, even positive articles that they feel are not worshipful enough.

Some of the Markle stans really don’t seem to know anything about the royal family. I saw one today that had no idea that the Queen still had two other dogs and just assumed it was Markle’s beagle with the Queen because “granddog.”
Then there are others that maintain some bizarre kinds of look forward not backward because I guess that worked with President Obama regarding the US’s torture and violation of its own laws.
I can only assume that some of these people are too young to understand what kind of shit show is going on because it’s been pretty smooth sailing for the BRF as a whole for several years.
