I pulled cards on both Rachel and baby Sussex yesterday at different times. The cards I got for her felt aggressive. She is one stubborn mule I tell you. What I saw was her literally standing out in the cold, surrounded by snow, only wearing a grey sweater. There was no buildings, no dogs, no one in sight. She is literally alone, and is currently making herself numb to the situation she brought onto herself. I’ll post what I got last night for baby Sussex who I believe is a boy and has both stubborn qualities of his parents. There’s obviously the lovely one sitting nicely on the right, you can see the tail of another one next to him, the little one, and then my favourite is the one on the far left. If you zoom in you can tell he loves his dog walker!!
Snark aside, as active duty this gave me rainbows in my soul. I’ve twice been away from home for Christmas (one spent at bootcamp, the other on deployment), and I know how much mail, let alone a familiar face, means this time of year. I think it’s awesome they both flew to Cyprus to hand out mail and packages from the airmen’s families, and actually spent some time with them.
Though I have to wonder if they bothered with the lower-ranking enlisted; they never get any of this type of treatment but they are just as important as the sergeant or unit commander.

As you are probably all aware by now Tumblr will not allow any nudity anymore after 17 december and though there is no porn on my blog anywhere, I just noticed that the movie poster of ‘Checking Out’ that I posted recently, which has Jeff Daniels on the cover in his boxershorts, is now flagged.
Tons of 80′s action movies had shirtless guys on the cover, that was just a popular thing back then. There’s nothing sexual about it. Lots of my other posts, like for instance a photo from Heather Locklear in a typical 80′s aerobic outfit and even a gif I made from the movie Troll are now flagged. Seriously? This is absolutely ridiculous!
I currently have 57.244 followers and generally get between 10 and 20 new followers each day, but in the last 2 days I actually lost 44, which is the most ever and are obviously just people ending their accounts because of this new rule, not because they don’t like my blog anymore. So it even affects non-sexual blogs. And that’s not all, my front page is a mess. Suddenly Tumblr puts posters I posted years ago at the top of my page. Why? No idea!
I have run this blog for almost 5 years now come january and have done so with all the fond memories and love I have for my childhood and that amazing decade. Eventhough I rarely receive a message, I do get a lot of reblogs and I love reading all your comments of the memories you have of certain films, toys, cartoons or video games from the 80′s that I post. That’s what kept me going, but if I just keep losing posts and followers from now on that doesn’t really stimulate me to keep going.

AFTER a decade of merely smiling enigmatically at peskily inquisitive reporters, Carole Middleton is suddenly singing like a hyperactive canary.
At the weekend she gave chapter and verse to a newspaper supplement on what Christmas will be like in the Middleton household, and now there she is beaming from the pages of December’s Good Housekeeping magazine while surrounded by festive props.

But as the fallout rumours are fairly recent and most glossy mags are laid out six weeks in advance, may I humbly/cynically (take your pick) suggest that the stall she’s laying out might be more monetary than motherly?
In other words, building up traffic to her and husband Michael’s Party Pieces website for Christmas in preparation for potentially flogging it off to an overseas billionaire in the pre-Brexit New Year.

But I digress. On Christmas Day I will be enduring (“enjoying”, surely? — Ed) our annual family fallout over a game of Monopoly. But if I wasn’t, I’d be straight round to Middleton Towers in Bucklebury, Berks, for what sounds like an idyllically festive few days.
In a Christmas walnutshell, it goes something like this: Wake up whenever, pop in to the local church, go for a walk, open a few pressies, smoked salmon and champagne for lunch, more pressies, some games, then the main meal early evening.
Oh, and all the grandchildren will have a small tree in their bedrooms that they can decorate themselves. The rest of the year, she says, “is really normal most of the time”. Which, to Prince William, who has grown up amid the pomp and circumstance of stuffy royal traditions, must feel like a slice of sheer heaven.
Instead, poor love, he and Kate are expected to join the rest of the royals (including Harry and Meghan) at Sandringham, where the Queen et al stick to the German tradition of opening gifts on Christmas Eve before dressing for a “formal dinner” from which, oh dear, the women eventually retire to another room while the men enjoy a port or brandy.

Then it’s off to the highly publicised visit to St Mary’s Magdalene church on Christmas morning, followed by a turkey lunch and a communal viewing of “Granny’s” speech at 3pm.
It’s unclear when William and Kate will head off to see her family, but what’s the betting they get in the car with fixed grins before mumbling “thank God that’s over for another year” the second they hit Norfolk’s A148? And that’s why, whatever the truth behind the rumours that Kate and Meghan aren’t getting on, it won’t matter one jot to the admirably grounded Duchess of Cambridge who, thanks to her idyllic childhood, knows exactly who she is.
Meghan, on the other hand, has no such cosy alternative to retreat to. Her parents divorced when she was just six years old and it’s no secret that she’s now estranged from her father Thomas and his highly vocal, deliciously off-message side of the family.
So, however well meaning she is, all her charitable grandstanding and repeated declarations of being “an independent woman” suggest she finds validation from being regarded as a, yawn, groundbreaking feminist role model rather than, as Kate is dismissed by some, a dutiful wife and mother, who toes the royal line and doesn’t make waves.

But Kate has no need to virtue signal because she’s rooted in the love and respect of her tight-knit family — a set-up she’s replicating with William, who, after his own fractured childhood, clearly adores the normality of life Chez Middleton.
And of course, they’re both equally secure in the knowledge that, post-“King Charles”, the top job is theirs.
Harry, on the other hand, has chosen a bride who, despite her efforts at reinvention, has a chequered past (join the club, dear) and a burning desire to be seen as more than just a pretty appendage to the sixth-in-line to the throne.
That’s understandable. But just like Kate did, it’s far better to quietly earn respect not noisily demand it.
Piers Morgan has invited Meghan Markle to make-up with him over drinks – despite labelling her a ‘social climber’ for blanking him when she met Prince Harry.
The Good Morning Britain presenter repeated criticism of the Duchess of Sussextoday, claiming she has ‘cut off’ people when she does not need them – or they could endanger her royal reputation.
Yesterday, Piers revealed the pair had been friends but he was ‘ghosted’ by the Suits actress who married Prince Harry in May.
Today, he continued criticism.
He said: ‘She knew I was a journalist when I followed her on Twitter she messaged me saying ‘I’m a big fan’.
‘I feel the pattern with Meghan – whether the ex being chopped of the family or the father whose been chopped – or me on a much smaller level– she called me a friend on Twitter – came to my pub drank my drinks and then… whoosh… gone.

The collapse of civilization and the natural world is on the horizon, Sir David Attenborough has told the UN climate change summit in Poland.
The naturalist was chosen to represent the world’s people in addressing delegates of almost 200 nations who are in Katowice to negotiate how to turn pledges made in the 2015 Paris climate deal into reality.
As part of the UN’s people’s seat initiative, messages were gathered from all over the world to inform Attenborough’s address on Monday. “Right now we are facing a manmade disaster of global scale, our greatest threat in thousands of years: climate change,” he said. “If we don’t take action, the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon.
“Do you not see what is going on around you?” asks one young man in a video message played as part of a montage to the delegates. “We are already seeing increased impacts of climate change in China,” says a young woman. Another woman, standing outside a building burned down by a wildfire, says: “This used to be my home.”
Attenborough said: “The world’s people have spoken. Time is running out. They want you, the decision-makers, to act now. Leaders of the world, you must lead. The continuation of civilizations and the natural world upon which we depend is in your hands.”
Attenborough urged everyone to use the UN’s new ActNow chatbot, designed to give people the power and knowledge to take personal action against climate change.
The COP24 summit was also addressed by António Guterres, the UN secretary-general. “Climate change is running faster than we are and we must catch up sooner rather than later before it is too late,” he said. “For many, people, regions and even countries, this is already a matter of life or death.”
Guterres said the two-week summit was the most important since Paris and that it must deliver firm funding commitments. “We have a collective responsibility to invest in averting global climate chaos,” he said.
He highlighted the opportunities of the green economy: “Climate action offers a compelling path to transform our world for the better. Governments and investors need to bet on the green economy, not the grey.”
Andrzej Duda, the president of Poland, spoke at the opening ceremony, saying the use of “efficient” coal technology was not contradictory to taking climate action. Poland generates 80% of its electricity from coal but has cut its carbon emissions by 30% since 1988 through better energy efficiency.
Friends of the Earth International said the sponsorship of the summit by a Polish coal company “raises the middle finger to the climate”.
A major goal for the Polish government at the summit is to promote a “just transition” for workers in fossil fuel industries into other jobs. “Safeguarding and creating sustainable employment and decent work are crucial to ensure public support for long-term emission reductions,” says a declaration that may be adopted at the summit and is supported by the EU.
In the run-up to the summit, Donald Trump expressed denial about climate change, while there were attacks on the UN process from Brazil’s incoming administration under Jair Bolsonaro.
Ricardo Navarro, of Friends of the Earth in El Salvador, said: “We must build an alternative future based on a just energy transformation. We face the threat of rightwing populist and climate-denying leaders further undermining climate protection and racing to exploit fossil fuels. We must resist.”
Another goal of the summit is for nations to increase their pledges to cut carbon emissions; currently, they are on target for a disastrous 3C of warming. The prime minister of Fiji, Frank Bainimarama, who led the 2017 UN climate summit, said his country had raised its ambitions. He told the summit: “If we can do it, you can do it.”
Recently, Tumblr was removed from the Apple app store due to an incident involving child pornography. This incident is incredibly unfortunate, but it doesn’t stand alone. Tumblr was also removed from the app store due to the large influx of porn bots and pornographic spam, users claiming to be proud to be pedophiles, blatant Nazism, racists who are not deleted for sending hate and harassing users, and more. I myself reported someone for harassing me, but because I had blocked the person and couldn’t access the messages where they harassed me, they were still able to send me anonymous asks. Your support staff, with back doors to the website (presumably), claimed they could not access the messages, and I was left SOL. Many features on this website do nothing to actually protect your users from harassment, racism, homophobia, transphobia, Nazis, pedophiles, predators, porn bots, and more.
You claim in your statement to us that you “have been working on these problems for a long time”. This is blatantly untrue. Please do not lie to us and patronize us. We’ve been here. We’ve seen you do nothing over, and over, and over again.
We complained to you for months and months about the rampant porn bots, and you did nothing except add a report button on mobile which only reported sensitive content or spam at best. You could have addressed this problem with an effective algorithm, but you did not. We complained to you about being harassed and sent hate speech for being LGBT+, and you did nothing. We complained to you about blogs being randomly deleted, and sometimes you’ve restored them, other times you have not. We complained to you that there were people proudly claiming to be “Minor Attracted Persons”, or pedophiles, and you did nothing. We complained to you about people proudly claiming to be white supremacists, and you did nothing. All of these things are “against the community guidelines”, and yet over and over, you have not found effective ways to handle these problems or suppress the feeling of welcome that these users claim to get here. You have had a long time to work on these problems, but you haven’t addressed them. To say you have is untrue.
Multiple other social networking websites, such as WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and others have effectively dealt with rampant pornography, racism, pedophilia, and other problems without causing massive issues for their users who are not misusing the platform. They are continuing to find new, effective ways to deal with these issues without causing problems for their userbase as a whole. There is no reason that you are unable to do this effectively other than that you wanted to do it quickly. You have once again chosen your stock holders over your users. And we have had enough.
You have already started to ban “Adult” content with a new algorithm. Here are screenshots of just a fraction of the posts you have flagged as containing adult content:
Your new system of simply tackling everything at once is not working. At all. And each of these screenshots is proof of your utter incompetence. None of these posts contain pornographic acts, “female nipples”, or any community violation of any kind.
We, the users, have been asking you for months to deal with these problems – particularly, the porn bots and bots that spam. In order to block a bot from a side blog, I have to do it manually, even though they are in my side blog’s feed. This is a huge issue for mobile – only users. They keep cropping up in droves, taking over our posts and tricking google into making it look like a legitimate blog linked to a pornographic website. We have complained to you for months and months now, and your solution to simply “ban all adult content” is ineffective. I agree that children should not be able to access pornography – but this is not how you tackle a porn bot problem. Your system is utterly useless, allows for racists, pedophiles, porn bots, and Nazis to remain untouched. It also harms sex workers and real people who may use this website for some forms of adult content responsibly. Moreover, as seen above, it harms plenty of users who have in no way violated your terms of service.
If you keep this up, you threaten your website and company as a whole. Many of us are backing up our blogs and planning places to go to.
You already have a content filter for “sensitive” content (content inappropriate for younger viewers). You could have improved this, instead of attacking your entire user base. It seems to be a very lazy “solution”, if you could call it one at all, and one that harms your entire userbase.
If you are going to keep this filter in place and make Tumblr, a website that has never been known for being family friendly and has never claimed to be, you are going to lose millions of your users. We are already planning our exodus. It isn’t hard to follow. Censor us, and we will go somewhere else. That is not a threat. It is a promise.

The Duchess of Sussex made a surprise appearance at a meeting of academics in London on Wednesday.
Pregnant Meghan, 37, visited King’s College London in an unannounced engagement, it emerged this evening.
The royal, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry next spring, joined academics for a round table discussion on how higher education can be used to tackle global issues like human trafficking, modern slavery and gender equality.
The Duchess looked polished yet relaxed in a simple short-sleeved fitted black sweater and kept a pen in hand as she jotted down notes in a notebook.
Meghan’s attendance at the meeting of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) was not publicised ahead of time, as is the case with the majority of royal engagements.
The event was publicised after the fact when Laura Hammond, professor of development studies at SOAS University London, tweeted: ‘We had an excellent discussion about how research can tackle the problems of slavery and human trafficking. Thanks to HRH Duchess of Sussex for joining us!’
Her tweet was shared alongside a photo of Meghan, sitting at the head of a table and looking engaged as another attendee spoke.
The ACU said the event was an opportunity to explore how higher education can help build a better world.
Discussions focused on the role of universities in addressing human trafficking and modern slavery, gender equality and inclusion, peace and reconciliation, and climate change and resilience.
The event follows her speech to students at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji in October.
Meghan spoke at the time of her struggle to finance her higher education and her ‘personal feeling of pride and excitement’ when she studied for her degree.
She described the education of women and girls in developing countries as ‘vital’, and called higher education’s impact ‘incredible, impactful and pivotal’.
