Just some annulment info – in the CoE consummation also refers to a psychological ability to make a commitment. In that sense if you take vows and do not “mean it” you lacked the intent to consummate the marriage spiritually. Also being high drunk drugged nullifies your ability to give consent. MM was clearly xanaxed she did not even have a reflexive action when the fly dive bombed her face. Harry seemed pretty chemically enhanced too. That would be grounds for an annullment.
I have a hard time believing that the CoE would go for that one. Video exists of the event. None of the commentators were saying that they didn’t look like they didn’t know what they were doing. There was months of buildup. The wedding didn’t come out of nowhere. Megs had a chance to bail well before she took whatever to deal with the stress of walking down the aisle with millions watching. Same with Harry.
What you’re essentially describing is what happened to Ross & Rachel during a Friends season finale where they were in Vegas and got married while drunk.
That is clearly not what happened at Windsor on May 19th this year.
Sorry, but the Xanax excuse isn’t going to cut it. If you stop and think about it, then it would set a precedent for all sorts of annulments within the CoE. For that reason alone, it’s not going to happen.
I think he’ll be able to remarry in CoE, all he needs is a reverend willing to wed a divorcee. There was something about Charles and Camilla, they could be wed in CoE but decided to have a civil marriage and church blessing because he’s an heir or something.
That’s not the way I remember it but whatever.
If Harry wants to remarry in a few years time, then people are going to be annoyed because he’ll look like a serial marriage person. It’s just not a good look all around.
Meghan got a pass to wed in the CoE because TECHNICALLY she wasn’t part of the CoE and had previously not been wed within the CoE. (She wasn’t part of any Christian church, not even baptised, but that’s another story.) It’s one of those “devil’s in the details” loopholes. Harry, on the other hand, is a member of the CoE. He married in the CoE. When he divorces, he can’t remarry in a CoE church like the first time. That’s the rule the CoE goes by. Any new wife-to-be’s status doesn’t matter a.t.p.
Oh, yeah, that’s right. I remember mentioning that. (Feels so long ago.)
But yeah, if he wants to remarry in the CoE again, then he would have to get an annulment, not a divorce.
@”have to settle for a civil ceremony with a blessing afterwards like his dad.” What if the person he marries next never been married ?
Well, I remember people complaining that Harry & Megs shouldn’t have really gotten a wedding in the Church of England this time because Megs is divorced, but they gave them a pass on it.
So, I’m sure it’ll be up to the CoE again to decide if they’re going to give them a pass on it or not.
the reverend sermon was boring af !!!! like for gos sake shut up the fuck !!!
Didn’t watch but that’s what I keep hearing about it.
