I used to want to save the world. To end war and bring peace to mankind. But then, I glimpsed the darkness that lives within their light and learned that inside every one of them there will always be both. A choice each must make for themselves. Something no hero will ever defeat. And now I know that only love can truly save the world. So, I stay. I fight, and I give… for the world I know can be. This is my mission now. Forever.

One-year anniversary of WONDER WOMAN (June 2, 2017)

hawkwoman:

I’m not the god of war, Diana. I am the God of truth. Mankind stole this world from us. They ruined it, day by day. And I, the only one wise enough to see it, was left too weak to stop them. All these years I have struggled alone, whispering into their ears. Ideas, inspiration for formulas, weapons, but I don’t make them use them. They start these wars on their own. All I do is orchestrate an armistice I know they cannot keep, in the hope they will destroy themselves.

Wonder Woman (2017) dir. Patty Jenkins

wondertrevnet:

What he says is “I wish we had more time.” before he tells her he loves her and literally runs to his death. That’s it. Nothing that could possibly make her feel guilty, nothing that could have seemed like he regretted anything. Not “I wish we hadn’t gone to the front.” Just “I wish we had more time.”

And he then, metaphorically and literally, gives her more time. Because he knows his clock has run out, but that doesn’t mean hers has to… so he runs and saves today and gives her his watch. Gives her time. (x)

Wonder Woman 2 Will Be Set in the 1980s

dcmultiverse:

Patty Jenkins has confirmed that Wonder Woman 2 will be another period piece, this time set in the 1980s. Although most of the DCEU has been set in a chronological order, Wonder Woman has been the rare exception. Though Wonder Woman first appeared in the film franchise during Batman V Superman, the majority of her debut movie was set during World War I, the earliest that any superhero movie story has been set.

There was heavy speculation that Wonder Woman 2 would follow suit, given the ending of Diana’s debut. Wonder Woman has a rather bittersweet ending with Diana mourning the death of Steve Trevor but still resolving to help humanity and be a part of the world. This was at odds with Diana’s story in both BvS and Justice League, where she was re-entering the world after a long absence. It appears that among many other things, Wonder Woman 2 will answer the lingering mystery of Diana’s disappearance.

OMG Yes! I just dig you so much more for mentioning Batman’s detecitve “skillz”. That side of him’s almost completely lost in the movies, sadly. (Tim Burton prob kept most of that element in.) Which, y’know, when your only “superpower” among a motley crew of aliens & mutants is basically being rich… your other, more cerebral, qualities would come in handy. Anyway, thanks for the covers & link! :) I mean… Brian Bolland’s WW #72 cover? It spawned the male superheroes’ pose! Did NOT know that.

Thanks!

Steve: This is no man’s land, Diana! It means no man can cross it, alright? This battalion has been here for nearly a year and they’ve barely gained an inch. All right? Because on the other side there are a bunch of Germans pointing machine guns at every square inch of this place. This is not something you can cross. It’s not possible.
Diana So… what? So we do nothing?
Steve: No, we are doing something! We are! We just… we can’t save everyone in this war. This is not what we came here to do.
Diana: No. But it’s what I’m going to do.

“Gal Gadot brought Wonder Woman to millions of new fans. Her portrayal was magnificent and powerful, capturing everything that Wonder Woman represents. She and I are lucky to be members of this small sisterhood, living and breathing this uniquely strong, smart and charming superhero. […] Wonder Woman has helped transform how women and girls see themselves since she emerged on a TV show in 1975. She represents what we know is inside every one of us: fierce strength, a kind heart and incredible valor. Gal understood and captured the spirit of this complex, independent, fully feminine persona. I applaud her for all of her success.” – Lynda Carter honors Gal Gadot for TIME 100 List

Hah – that gif… For a sec I was half expecting Captain Wales to break out his inner mockney and go “Meghan. Meg… M… Oi! OI! Meg!” the security guard (?) in white in the middle doing the dude version of clutching pearls. That’s a gold gif! H/M aside. What’s your all-time favourite comic and why? I get that this might be hard, esp if you’re REALLY into different artists/time periods. But anywho.. If you’ve got more than one, feel free to get a list together :) If you’ve got the time.

Pearl clutching is right! I love the way he’s sidestepping to his right too!

I stopped reading comics regularly back in 2001-2002, and there are a lot of good stories that I haven’t read. Off hand, the one that comes to mind is probably Grant Morrison’s JLA, (volume 1) issues 1-4, particularly number 3 since it’s Batman alone against the Hyperclan. It works so well because it highlights Batman’s detective abilities.

There are probably others, but that is just what comes to mind right now.

Also, I always loved Brian Bolland’s Wonder Woman covers.

And this cover for Spider-Woman:

And this Spider-Woman story about the man who couldn’t die unless he found someone willing to die with him. (I always liked it since I read it as a kid.)

That’s all I can think of offhand.
